My colleagues, Supervisor Mar and Melgar, and I sent an open letter to General Manager Phil Ginsberg and Director Jeff Tumlin with our concerns about the level of transparency and accountability the Recreation and Parks Department (Rec Park) and San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has in regard to notifying stakeholders, including SFCTA, and the general public.
Our goal is to have meaningful community conversations and input, ensure the public integrity and public trust in the city’s decision-making process, and to work collaboratively to uphold the City's policies of Vision Zero, transit-first, and mitigate climate disaster. We are all emerging from the pandemic facing a new normal and have the opportunity to make our city streets safer, more accessible, and user-friendly. What we need from the agencies is clear next steps and process when it comes to any agency decision-making and recommendations regarding the future of the Great Highway.
