Connie’s mother developed the skills she needed for a new career as a claims processor at Chinese Hospital, thanks to classes available at City College of San Francisco. After graduating from Galileo High School, Connie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California – Davis, and then went to work giving back to the community that had done so much for her family. Connie started her career as a volunteer Chinese interpreter, working with pro bono attorneys for the SF Bar Association's Volunteer Legal Outreach, and as a community organizer for SF SAFE and the Community Youth Center.

She later served as a public safety and communications aide and liaison to the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community for then-District Attorney Kamala Harris. Connie also served as a legislative aide to then-Supervisor Aaron Peskin and as a representative of then-Assemblymember Kevin Mullin.
In addition to her local and state level policy work, Connie has held roles in the administration at the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department, working across San Francisco to promote and protect our public spaces, and at City College of San Francisco working on advancing higher education policies and public access.
First elected in 2020, Connie has served as the Chair of the Board of Supervisors Budget Committee since February 2023, and also serves as a member of the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, the San Francisco Local Agency Formation Commission, and the Free City College Oversight Committee.
As Supervisor, recognizing the looming threat of federal cuts, Connie proactively created a $400 million revenue risk reserve fund in the 2025-2026 budget to ensure funding would be available for healthcare, food security, housing, and other services at risk of being cut. And in the face of attacks against our immigrant community, Connie introduced a supplemental budget to provide additional aid to immigration defense collaborative, to provide legal services, support and education.

The 11th Congressional District covers nearly the entirety of San Francisco. Since 1987, the City has been represented by Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi who has announced her retirement. Like Speaker Pelosi, Connie Chan will break barriers - if elected, she will be the first Asian American to represent San Francisco in the House.
Connie has served our City at every level, fighting tirelessly for affordable housing, protections for small businesses, workers’ and union rights, and increased support for families who are struggling during these difficult times. Connie is running for Congress to continue this fight in Washington, representing San Francisco residents in California’s 11th District.
Connie Chan has always worked for the people not the powerful
